Janina
was born in Nottingham in 1976 and began studying the
Violin at the age of 7 through the local peripatetic system,
changing to Viola at the age of 10. In 1994 Nina entered
the Royal College of Music to study with Roger
Best, and after completing her BMUS Hons she continued
her studies on the Postgraduate Orchestral Pathway course
under Ian Jewel and Peter Sulski. During which time she
played with the Royal Philharmonic, BBC Symphony and English
National Opera Orchestras.
Now a freelance viola player, Janina is based in London
enjoying a great variety of work, from educational workshops,
recording sessions and quartet work to playing with, amongst
others, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle and RTE
orchestras. During
the Summer of 2000 Nina participated in the Festival d’art
Lyrique where she played with the Ensemble Intercontemporain
under Pierre Boulez.
Nina also
enjoys working with her father Jazz Saxophonist Jan Kopinski
and have recently recorded a CD of music they perform
live to Dovshenko’s 1930's silent film 'Earth', which
they are currently touring throughout England. |
